Hello Friends! As I write this blog to you, we are now just four days away from the beginning of Spring. Amen and Amen! I just love Springtime! Every year at Springtime when I see the flowers and tree begin to bloom it always makes me think of that old Christian hymn, “How Great Thou Art.” This beautiful hymn was written in 1885 by a Swedish Pastor, and this Pastor’s name was Carl Boberg. He wrote this song when he was going for a walk one day outside and suddenly a thunderstorm appeared out of nowhere. A severe wind began to blow and after the storm was over, he looked out over the clear bay. He then heard a church bell in the distance. And the words to How Great Thou Art begin to form in this pastor’s heart. Friends, when this Pastor pondered creation, it made him simply in awe of God and we know by the classic hymn he wrote.
Just like Pastor Boberg, when King David pondered creation, it also made him in awe of God! The Bible says before David became a King; he was first a shepherd. And as a shepherd, David would spend many nights keeping watch over his sheep in the fields around Bethlehem and there in those fields, David spent many nights gazing at the stars, gazing at the big dipper and gazing at the moon. And I would not be surprised when King David wrote Psalm 19, he remembered those nights when he was a shepherd.
We see in Psalm 19 that God designed mankind to scan the skies. And watch what happens when we scan the skies and gaze at the heavens the Bible says in Psalm 19:1, “the heavens declare the glory of God.” The heavens declaring the glory of God is not a one-time thing the heavens are declaring the glory of God continually. Every moment, every second, every hour and every day the heavens continually declare the glory of God. The heavens continually give testimony to God as the Creator. The shooting stars we see at night declares the glory of God. The moon we see at night declares the glory of God. I love this quote from Adrian Rogers, “We see in Genesis 1:1 that God stood upon the platform of nothing and spoke a world into existence.” I love this quote from Pastor Rogers. Friends, we see in nature that God has put Himself on display so that all can see. Nature is God’s theater show casing His glory. Each Spring I am reminder how great our God is!!
Friends,
We are right now in the process of remodeling our church kitchen and the remodeling has already began. How exciting! If you can help in anyway please contact Debbie Walker. Thank you in advance!!
Church Family and Friends,
Please join us on Sunday, February 16th after the morning worship service for our Valentine’s Day Brunch. Pancakes, bacon, sausage and other goodies will be served at this brunch immediately after worship service! All are welcome. I would encourage you to take this opportunity to invite and bring your family and friends to church this Sunday. You can feed their souls at the worship service and feed their bellies at brunch; this is a win-win I tell you! I look forward to worshipping you this Sunday and fellowshipping with you at the brunch afterwards!
